department of one

Open for projects

Websites, apps and bots, built by one person.

Department of One is one developer doing every job: the design, the code, the testing and the inbox after launch. If you hire it, you talk to the person who built it.

01 Services

What I build.

Three kinds of project, one person on every one of them. Delivery times are typical for the size of the package. The price depends on the scope, so describe yours in the form below.

01 / Websites

  • Booking, payments, newsletter signup, a blog or an online store
  • Page titles, descriptions, sitemap and social share images

03 The live one

The app I run myself.

FitLog

Live

A workout log, a meal and macro tracker and a fasting timer in one app. I built it for my own training, because the trackers I tried felt bloated and I wanted all three in one place. Everything I would do for your app, I did here first: the design, the code, the store listing and the support inbox.

Also in it
Personal records, trend charts, and workout and meal programs you can reuse
Offline
Log a workout with no signal. It syncs when you're back online.
Install
Runs in the browser, and you can add it to your home screen without going through an app store.
Your data
Export all of it, or delete your account from Settings.
Open FitLog
FitLog's Train tab showing yesterday's workout: 20,500 kg of volume over 45 minutes, with leg press and hamstring curls logged
The weekly summary: 3 workouts, 31,373 kg moved, average calories and protein, and training and diet streaks
The Eat tab with today's calories against a 2,075 kcal goal, macros, a water counter and a logged breakfast
The diet goal screen with calories left today and a micronutrients breakdown
Community: shared diets and meal plans, with the official Mediterranean diet at the top
Starting a fast, with 16:8, 18:6, 20:4 and one-meal-a-day windows or a custom length
1 of 6 Yesterday's session, 20,500 kg in 45 minutes

04 Process

How a project goes.

The same four steps for a one-page site or a full app. Revisions are included in every package.

  1. 01

    Send a brief

Tell me what it should do and who it is for, plus two or three sites or apps you like. I reply with what fits and a rough scope.

  2. 02

    See a first version

A private preview link, or a build you can tap through on your phone. The look is settled before the rest is built.

  3. 03

    Build the rest

You review as it comes together and we adjust. Tests and speed checks run before anything goes to you.

  4. 04

    Launch

It goes live on your hosting and in your accounts, with the source code and a plain-English handover guide.

About AI

I use AI tools to speed up coding and writing. I review and test every page, screen and command myself. If you want none of it, say so before we start.

Access

I never ask for passwords. Hosting, stores and bot accounts are shared through invites, and you can remove me when we are done.

Questions people ask

Do I own what you build?

Yes. It runs on your hosting and accounts, and you get the source code and the logins.

What will it cost?

It depends on the scope. Describe the project in the form below and I will reply with a price that fits it, before you commit to anything.

Which platform will you use for my website?

Whichever suits you. A hand-coded site is the fastest and costs nothing to host on Vercel or Netlify. WordPress, Shopify, Webflow and Framer are easier to edit yourself. I will recommend one after reading your brief.

Do I need store accounts for an app?

Only to publish: Apple's developer program is $99 a year and Google Play is $25 once, both in your name. I walk you through both. New personal Google Play accounts also have to run a closed test with 12 testers for 14 days before an app can go public.

Where does a bot run?

On hosting you own, such as a small VPS or a container host like Railway or Render. That is usually a few dollars a month. Bots never need your Discord password: the token goes straight into your hosting settings.

Can you fix or extend something that already exists?

Usually. I work on bots written in JavaScript, TypeScript or Python, apps in Flutter, React Native or Expo, and sites on the platforms above. Send me what it does and what you need.

05 About

Who's behind it.

Just me. I build apps, sites and bots, and I like finishing what I start.

  • I use what I make

FitLog started as something I wanted for myself, so I am usually the first to notice when it breaks.

  • You'll reach me

There is no account manager to get past. The person reading your message is the one who will write the code.

  • No tricks

No fake countdowns and no pressure. If something costs money, it will say so plainly.

  • Your data stays yours

Nothing gets sold, to advertisers or to anyone else, and you can delete your FitLog account whenever you like.

Buy me a coffee

Got an idea for an app?

Tell me what it would do and how you'd use it. I read every message, and good ideas go on the list for what I build next.

06 Inquiry

Start a project, or just ask.

Everything sent here lands in one inbox, and I read all of it. Pick a reason and I will know what kind of reply to write.

  1. 01I read your message and reply to your email.
  2. 02For a project, I ask what is missing and suggest a scope and a price.
  3. 03You decide, and nothing starts until you say so.
